Its name was officially changed to Everglades University in the December of 2005. Accreditation followed later in January 2010.

Everglades University: Why Top Ranking?

Degree Jungle’s ranking of the best online colleges in America takes into account a number of different metrics, each designed to assess the comparative strengths and benefits of each university’s online program. These metrics include the average net price of attendance, acceptance rates, student to faculty ratios, and the percentage of students receiving grants, scholarship aid or federal loans, among others. How did Everglades University do? Let’s have a quick recap of the headline stats.

One of the most interesting metrics to most students will be the net price of attendance. This was calculated to be $24,342 for 2012 equating to number 44 in the Degree Jungle rankings (net price is calculated by subtracting the average amount of government, institutional grant, or scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance, which in turn includes the sum of tuition and required fees, books and supplies, and the weighted average for room and board and other expenses). As for financial support, 77% of Everglades University undergrad students receive grant or scholarship aid (financial aid is only available for those who qualify), while 96% are in receipt of federal student loans. One of the most favorable metrics reported is that of the student to faculty ratio. Everglades University, with its ratio of one faculty member per seven students, was ranked in pole position. This suggests an intimate college environment with abundant faculty resources. Naturally this will be of more interest to students physically attending courses on-campus.
